Welcome
Traditions run deep around here for our family. We have been visiting this area of SE Oregon since about 1950 for many reasons.
Plush is in the heart of the Warner Valley, which is part of the Pacific Fly Way. Millions of migratory birds travel through this valley each year including many species of Upland Game and Water Fowl. A great place to view many of these birds is the Warner Wetlands which is located at the foot of the mighty Hart Mountain and next to Hart Lake.
Hart Mountain is home to the Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge which was founded in the 1930’s by the Lakeview Chamber of Commerce. Other species of wildlife that can be found here include deer, antelope, Big Horn Sheep, coyotees, rabbit, cougar and snake; just to name a few.
This area of Oregon has an ancient natural history that has drawn us back time and time again. Glaciation has scarred the landscape and made the mountains and lakes what they are today. If you stand along the Western flanks of Hart Mountain and look North, you can see evidence of an ancient sea as far as the eye can see. Wave action along the mountain side has created a horizontal line that is evidence the now dried-up marshes were once a vast body of water that definitely left its legacy to Warner Valley!
